Selected through a rigorous two-round audition process, Ana Gonzalez was unanimously recognized for delivering the most compelling and technically outstanding performance. Her playing shone in both the blind round and the live leadership assessment, demonstrating exceptional clarity, confidence, and musical depth. In a remarkably close competition, the panel chose Ana for her exquisite artistry and strong leadership potential—qualities that make her an exciting new Concertmaster for the RMSO.

Ana Gonzalez is a rising young violinist currently completing her Bachelor of Music at the University of Calgary, where she serves as concertmaster of the UCalgary Orchestra and second violinist in the UCalgary String Quartet. A finalist and award recipient in multiple provincial and international competitions, she has performed with ensembles across Canada, Europe, and the U.S. Ana is also an active instructor, teaching violin to young musicians through RMH Music Studio, the Alberta School of Music, and El Sistema Calga
