Brenna Le May

Cello

Brenna Le May joins the RMSO as Principal Cello after standing out in an exceptionally competitive audition process. Her warm, expressive sound and refined musicality earned her one of the top scores, and she ultimately received the decisive recommendation of our acting principal cellist. Brenna’s artistry, professionalism, and natural leadership presence make her a powerful addition to the orchestra and a wonderful new leader for the cello section.

Brenna is a Master of Music candidate at the University of Calgary and a former Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra musician, celebrated for her award-winning solo and chamber performances across Canada and abroad. She has received numerous distinctions—including national festival wins and international competition placements—and has appeared as clinician, guest performer, and festival artist. Brenna also maintains a vibrant private teaching studio and serves as librarian for the UCalgary Symphony Orchestra.
