Bassoon/Contrabassoon
With RMSO since season 3
Jace Stearn, Bassoon
Jace is a freelance bassoonist and contrabassoonist in the Calgary area. He is a regular performer with many orchestras in the area, including the Calgary Philharmonic, Red Deer Symphony and the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra. Prior to moving to the Calgary area, Jace was the regular contrabassoonist for the Victoria Symphony, in addition to serving as the principal bassoonist of the Vancouver Island Symphony for a number of years.
In addition to all of his regular bassooning, Jace has been the music director of the award winning Highwood High School band program (High River) since 2006. The bands from Highwood have consistently earned Gold Awards for Superior performance from music festivals across the country. Jace is also a regular adjudicator and guest conductor for many local music community groups and ensembles, both adult and student.
Jace loves construction projects, and custom built the acreage home he shares with his horn playing wife, Kristin, along with their two beautiful children, Camryn and Nathaniel.
Jace is excited to be apart of this amazing outreach orchestra, and looks forward to sharing the beauty of woodwind ensemble gems with our audience!
