Ross Lemon

Double Bass

Founding Member

Born in Manitoba then moved to Alberta, Ross Lemon began his studies of the Double Bass in Calgary at the age of 12 at a String program through the CBE and studied with Terry McCarthy for the first couple of years. Ross then went on to then called Mount Royal College Conservatory of Music and studied with Sheila Garrett from 1995-2000. Ross earned a Music Performance Diploma (1994), and a Performance Degree (2000). 

Ross was Principal Bass in the Calgary Youth Orchestra from 1994-2000 conducted by various prestigious conductors as Nick Pulos, John Thompson, Dr. Glenn Price, and guest conductors such as Bramwell Tovey, Hans Graf, Mario Bernardi, and Pinchas Zukerman. 

Ross joined the Calgary Youth Orchestra on tours to England, Scotland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Australia, and Japan.

He performs on a 1889 Karl Höfner 5-string bass which has been fully restored by two of the most prestigious string instrument luthiers in Calgary: Natanael Sasaki, and Ross Hill (Aeolian Strings).

Aside from music, Ross loves to spend time with his two beloved cats Phillipe and Sebastien, and is also an avid PC Gamer.
