Tokie Onoda

Tokie (Satoko) Onoda is a founding member of the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly with orchestras and chamber ensembles across southern Alberta, including the Calgary Civic Symphony, St. Giles Orchestra, Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra, and Amadea Strings, which she also co-founded. She studied violin at the University of Southern Mississippi with Dr. Jerrie Lucktenberg, a student of the renowned pedagogue Ivan Galamian, who also taught legendary violinists including Itzhak Perlman. Tokie is the founder of Calgary Classical, a website dedicated exclusively to classical music events in Calgary and the surrounding area. She currently serves on the boards of several arts organizations, including Choir Alberta, and is passionate about building bridges between performers, presenters, and audiences — on stage and beyond.
