Join us on January 31 for an unforgettable evening featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 (“Pastoral”) — one of the most beloved works in the orchestral repertoire.

Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony will be enhanced with lighting that reflects the mood and spirit of each movement — from gentle country scenes to the storm and the joyful hymn of thanksgiving.

The Program

Celebrate the land, people, and voices of Alberta through music that is familiar, fresh, and deeply rooted.

This program features Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony (Symphony No. 6) alongside selected works from three Alberta composers (Virginia Sparvier-Wells, Donovan Seidle, and Daniel Pelton).

In Duet for Percussion & Orchestra, percussionist Bob Fenske will teach the audience several rhythmic patterns to look for in the piece.

Virginia Sparvier-Wells’ Muskwa’s Mountain will be followed by a quiet moment for reflection.

A live painter will capture the music in real time, with the finished artwork auctioned after the concert.

Information for February 1 Ticket Holders

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the February 1 concert at RockPointe Church has been cancelled. Patrons who have already purchased tickets for this event can choose from the following three options.

We would truly love to welcome you to our January 31, 2026 performance at Bert Church Theatre (Airdrie), featuring the same program.‍
Important note about ticketing: Because Bert Church Theatre uses a separate ticketing system, we are not able to directly “transfer” your Feb 1 ticket purchased through Zeffy.
If you choose this option:
1. RMSO will issue a full refund for your Feb. 1 Zeffy purchase, and
2. You can purchase tickets for Jan. 31 directly through Bert Church Theatre here: tickets.airdrie.ca
If you would like to support RMSO through this change, we can convert the value of your ticket purchase into a charitable donation, and RMSO will issue a tax receipt. This option helps us offset the financial impact of the cancellation while continuing to support our musicians and our programming.

Although the RockPointe performance is cancelled, we will still be hosting our Pre-Concert Reception as planned:
